BODY BUMPS: Blood or immune

 

Low red blood cell count is anemia. This causes fatigue and a lack of energy because they supply your cells with oxygen. Get your blood tested. Often it is due to iron deficiency and an iron supplement may be helpful.

White blood cells are primarily responsible for fighting foreign organisms that enter the body: bacterial and parasitic infections to allergic response. T-cells, a form of white blood cells, are the ones that stop functioning properly in the presence of an HIV infection. An overproduction of white blood cells can lead to leukemia. On the other hand, certain medications, such as Clozapine®, used in psychiatry, can reduce the number of white cells significantly.

Low white blood cell count? You should add more fruits and vegetables of any kind to your diet. It'll help your health. Some foods are high in antioxidants. The three major antioxidant vitamins are beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Defficiency in any of these three can lower immune response. Find them in colorful fruits and vegetables, especially those with purple, blue, red, orange, and yellow hues.
